Description: 1910's Johnson & Johnson "Insurance First Aid Case Cabinet" w/Stock. Esmarch BandageWall Unit-14"x 11"x 4.5" A stocked, early first aid cabinet for industrial use that includes the famous 'Esmarch Bandage' with instructions printed right on it. This one has the very rare eye diagram for optical wounds. Original art was used by J&J. Pictures 5, 6, & 7 show the contents neatly laid out. We have tape, bandages slings, an empty Band-Aid box. The tape appears to be from the 20's or 30's, as well as the boxes of bandages. The gloves look old fashioned, and of course the Esmarch bandage has the original art from the turn of the century or before. It was invented for the Franco-Prussian War of the 1870's but this one is from the 1910's at the earliest, I'd guess. It was invented by the Prussian Surgeon General, Esmarch who realized it would not work well without instructions and those, just like these days, are always getting lost. So print the instructions right on the cloth. A very good idea. As I think I mentioned, this one has the cool eyeball diagram. You don't often see that.
