Freeman was a gentleman photo journalist who traveled w/ geological surveys, was an active member of the NYC Explorer Club & served as a war correspondent in the Russo Japanese War. It’s likely those experiences that culminated in this remarkably sympathetic for the time, documentation of labor abuses. Toning and ink specs, tack holes to the mount (5 x 6") and press marks reverse.
