Card is addressed to Rev. G [eorge] Curtiss, DD or D. D., as a New Year's Greeting, presumably from one of Rev. Curtiss' congregants, [again] presumably the man sitting on the steps in front of the house - possibly playing with a small dog. I would assume the man to be a bachelor even though it looks like he might be in his late 30s or early 40s from the little bit I can determine from the photo. As an added thought, perhaps a U S Soldier returning home from the military given that he appears to be wearing a uniform and appears to have a duffel bag by his side. I did an online research Rev. George Curtiss in Kent and came up with 3 contributions - on nature and historical themes, ca. 1906, from Rev. George Curtiss DD of Kent to a nicely done Connecticut Magazine: An Illustrated Monthly, Volume 10 et seq. I'm fairly certain that's the addressee. I couldn't find out his church - probably Episcopalian or Congregational - but I think that wouldn't be too difficult now that we can presume his first name. Only card on ebay with this view as 24 May 2024 Standard size postcard Postally used (although stamp is missing) with Dec 30, 1906 postmark. Photo is a tad faded; first scan is tweaked a bit to show detail; 2nd scan gives a better idea of what postcard actually looks like. VERY GOOD . . . . . . . Remember that the Abraham Lincoln Penny is not attached to the item. It is put on the scanner bed merely to protect the uniqueness or near uniqueness of an image so that the high bidder gets an item that has not been copied via someone's computer. The penny DOES NOT hide any faults or any damage! _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ (the fine print ... [sigh] ... but please read :-) WE REGRET WE DON'T SHIP OUT OF USA; SORRY, BUT NO EXCEPTIONS. FREE SHIPPING with a stiffer piece of card stock + plastic sleeve protected 1st class mail, STANDARD RATE. Regardless of what ebay may say on their "Shipping Page" - while STANDARD MAIL is perfectly safe for smaller & less expensive items - it is NOT the same grade of service as a "First Class Mail Parcel." Buyer MAY opt in (at a small-ish extra charge) for upgraded 1st class mail package rate (with TRACKING #) at checkout if they choose to do so. I ship AT twice a week so turnover time or handling time is 3 business days (Mon-Fri) max - often less than that. PAYPAL IS THE MUCH PREFERRED METHOD OF PAYMENT. Thanks! Please pay within 4 days. Delayed? Then email me - I'll try to work with you when necessary but it helps a lot when I have contact with you. If your payment is delayed, ebay is liable to send a dun or two. PLEASE NOTE THAT THOSE ARE COMING AUTOMATICALLY FROM EBAY AND NOT FROM ME. I typically send out just one reminder. PLACING A BID IS THE ETHICAL EQUIVALENT OF ACCEPTING THESE TERMS. PLEASE DON'T ASK TO ALTER THEM AFTERWARDS. In return, as our feedback clearly shows, we'll get your item(s) to you, as described, in a safe, timely manner. Thanks!
