Description: An original antique 1906 print. BATH ABBEY AND PUMP ROOM Somerset. Known to the Romans as Aquae Sulis. The print is by Walter Tyndale RI and was published in a Wessex guidebook of 1906 published by Adam & Charles Black, Soho Square, London. The locations within the book are within the area of Thomas Hardy's Wessex (see below). Condition is good. This is a genuine 1906 print. Sold without mount or frame. The photograph of the framed print is only a representation of what the print could look like when framed. (Representation not to scale - check measurements below). Has original tissue guard which has the location of the print upon it. The overall size of the print, including white margin is 220 mm x 155 mm (check orientation of photo). Thomas Hardy' Wessex is the fictional literary landscape created by the authoras the setting for his major novels, located in the south andsouthwest of England. Hardy named the area "Wessex" afterthe medieval Anglo-Saxon kingdom that existed in this part of that country prior to the unification of England. Although the places that appear in his novels actually exist, in many cases he gave the place a fictional name. The Artist: Walter Frederick Roope Tyndale (18551943) was a Britishwatercolourist of landscapes, architecture and street scenes, book illustrator.
