Description: 1902 William Comyns (London) Lined Sterling Silver Jewelry Ormolu Casket Box This is such a cool jewelry box, casket, or ormulu. Shaped like a postal mail box. The top slides open revealing a velvet covered section that has 6 spots to hold rings and anoth spot to hold small jewelry. The bottom has a pull out drawer that is also velvet covered. That space is about 2 3/4" x 2" x 1 1/4" (deep) so you could store other smaller jewelry or trinkets. The sections in this jewelry box are lined with wood. The knob on the drawer has a dent. There are also scratches, dings and dents on the outside of the entire piece. One of the four pins is missing from the bottom that holds the base in place. Base is still secure without it. But, overall still quite displayable for sure! This box is marked in four places as shown. Measures 2 7/8" x 3 1/2" x 4 5/8". Weighs 348.6 grams but remember that includes the base, wood and velvet, too. Very unusual piece! The shape reminds me of a postal mail box.
