The obverse eagle was redesigned to show the more majestic coat of arms typical of 1898, as well as a bolder cap and rays design on the reverse. (see Buttrey and Hubbard, 1971, A Guidebook of Mexican Coins). This coin type was minted from 1898 to 1909, and at mints in Mexico City (Mo), Zacatecas (Zs), Culiacan (Cn), and Guanajuato (Go).
