Description: Presented is a fabulous English sterling silver 4 piece tea set. This set was made by the Cooper Brothers and dates to 1896/1897. All the pieces are beautifully made, with a symmetrical ribbed design on the lower portions of the bodies. Each piece rests on four bun form feet. The handles and finials of the two pots are nicely carved from rich dark wood. Each piece has an ornate monogram of WMJ in overlaid lettering. The set is spotlessly clean inside and out, ready for use or display. The set consists of: Teapot-- Measures about 9 1/2 inches from handle to spout, stands about 5 1/8 inches tall. Capacity of 2 1/2 cups (20 fluid ounces/.6 liter) Coffee pot--Stands about 7 1/8 inches tall. Capacity of 2 3/4 cups (22 fluid ounces/.65 liter) Sugar bowl--Measures about 5 5/8 inches from handle to handle, stands about 3 1/4 inches tall. Creamer--Stands about 2 7/8 inches tall. This set is in great condition. There are no splits, no leaks, no dents, no cracks, no monogram removals, and no repairs. Each piece is hallmarked with the lion passant for sterling silver, the crown for the city of Sheffield, and the maker's mark for the Cooper Brothers. The teapot, creamer, and sugar bowl all have a date letter of E for 1897, while the coffee pot has a date letter of D for 1896.
