La Femme aux Figues (Woman with Figs). This controversial etching from 1894-95 has been attributed both to Paul Gauguin and to Armand Seguin. Present evidence favors Gauguin as the artist with possible technical assistance from Seguin while they were working together in the Breton Village of Le Pouldu. The figure is thought to be Emile Bernard's sister, Madeleine, and the scene depicted may be from Seguin's home where there was a fig tree in the back yard.Photo measures 10 x 8inches.
