Description: This unique Tobacco card (also referred to as a Cigarette Card) was issued by the KINNEY BROS Tobacco Co. as an insert premium in their brands of Tobacco and Cigarettes during 1890. It is one from a fairly scarce series of cards entitled, “ NOVELTIES” and is listed as series N228 in Burdick’s American Card Catalogue . This is known as a TYPE 3 Variation I believe, which features a young ladies cameo featured on a die-cut novelty background. There are 3 different variations of the backs for this type. (“75 styles” back variation as well as 25 and 50 styles back variations issued) The one features a Victorian Kite, and is a 25 back variation. The exact measurements of the card are difficult to determine due to it being a die cut. However it’s approximate measurements are 1 ½ inches 2 3/4 inches approximately. The card does have a smaller edge tear near the bottom, but it is free from major creases I have scanned the card fairly large both back and front for you to be able to judge condition for your self. Don't miss out on this over 130 year old piece (a true AMERICAN antique).
