1889 Louisa of Germany Tobacco Card N222 Kinney Cigarettes Leaders Series

Description: This fantastic card was issued by the KINNEY BROS. TOBACCO Co. as an insert premium in their brands of Tobacco and Cigarettes during 1889. This cards is from a fairly scarce series of 25 cards entitled , “LEADERS” and are designated series N222 in the American Card Catalogue . Jefferson Burdick did note in his American Card Catalogue that there were two different widths of this card series issued. A wide variant and a thin variant. The front of the card features a handsomely rendered head and shoulders portrait of the particular leader, with a small vignette representative of this persons notoriety in the foreground. The back features a list of the 25 cards in the series, and an advertising for Kinney’s HIGH CLASS CIGARETTES. The Lithography for the card is exceptional . This card features Louisa of Germany. The card measures 1 ½ inches by 2 ¾ inches approximately and is a wide variant . The card does have some lighter corner and edge wear, and some print loss and discoloration to the back. I have scanned the card fairly large for you to be able to judge condition for yourself.
