Description: 1888 The Poetical Works of Alfred Lord Tennyson Ornate Antique Victorian Gilt A scarce early copy of this work. Ornate Embossed Cloth Hardcover with Gilt decoration on front and spine. Decorative end papers. Measures about 9.875 x 7 inches. 834 pages. Illustrated throughout. VERY GOOD VINTAGE CONDITION: Very nice condition for its age. Pages are clean and unmarked with not tears except for a few pages that have very brief margin markings/underlining (see photos). The first part of the book has toning to page 209. About a half dozen pages have creasing (see photos for examples). Bookplate inside front cover. Binding is cracked at back (see photo) but is still holding solid. (This could easily be repaired if desired or simply handled with care.) Cover has relatively minor wear. Most notably, there is a small 1" tear to the cloth at the top front edge of the spine which I have repaired by sliding a small piece of cloth archival book repair tape behind it (see photos). The gilt is nice and shiny. Presents very nicely. Please see photos to judge condition and feel free to ask questions.
