Description: This listing is for "FRANKENSTEIN" written by Mary Shelley in 1818. The book is dated 1888. It measures 4.25 x 5.75 inches with 317 pages. Construction is hardcover, paper litho over boards with cloth spine and gilt titles. Pages have deckled (untrimmed) edges which was a desirable form at the time because it gave the book a handmade look. Many 19th-century publishers offered two versions of the same book: one with trimmed edges and a higher-priced deckle version. This 134 year old book is in very good overall with some wear to the cover, mostly around the edges and spine tips.
