Description: This RARE card was issued by the D. RITCHIE & CO. tobacco Company in Canada as an insert premium in their brands of Picadilly, Athlete, Putritan, Sultana, Elite, Derby and Sweet Sixteen Tobacco and Cigarettes during 1888. Burdick list this series as C153 in his American Card catalogue. This card is one from a rare series of 36 known cards entitled , “Flags of All Nations” These use the same art work that were used by Allen & Ginter for their N9 Series of Flags issued in the United States. These card are far rarer than the Ginters This card features the flag of RUSSIA The Cards measures 2 3/4 inches by 1 1/2 inches approximately. The card does have a lighter crease. I have scanned the card fairly large for you to be able to judge condition for yourself. This is one of the toughest of the Canadian Issue tobacco series to come by. Don’t miss out. THESE CARDS A MUCH HARDER TO FIND THAN THEIR ALLEN & GINTER ISSUED COUNTERPARTS IN THE UNITED STATES Due to the lower population in Canada than in the US, print runs in Canada were much smaller compared with American Cards.
