It saw service for three centuries including the First World War and Second World War but then amalgamated with the 11th Hussars (Prince Albert's Own) to form the Royal Hussars (Prince of Wales's Own) in October 1969. The regiment saw action at the Battle of Ali Masjid in November 1878 during the Second Anglo-Afghan War and at the First and Second Battles of El Teb in February 1884 during the Mahdist War. With the outbreak of the Second Boer War, the regiment sailed for South Africa in November 1899. After fighting at Colesberg, the regiment participated in the relief of Kimberley in February 1900.The Second Anglo-Afghan War was a military conflict fought between the British Raj and the Emirate of Afghanistan from 1878 to 1880, when the latter was ruled by Sher Ali Khan of the Barakzai dynasty, the son of former Emir Dost Mohammad Khan. The war was part of the Great Game between the British and Russian empires. There were several decisive actions in the Second Anglo–Afghan War, from 1878 to 1880. Here are the battles and actions in 1879: Action at Takht-i-Pul (British victory), Action at Matun (British victory), Battle of Khushk-i-Nakud (British victory), Battle of Fatehabad (Afghan victory), Siege of the British Residency in Kabul (Afghan victory), Battle of Kam Dakka (British victory), Battle of Charasiab (British victory), Battle of Shajui, Battle of Karez Mir, Battle of Takht-i-Shah, Battle of Asmai Heights (Afghan victory), and the Siege of Sherpur in Kabul (British victory)In November 1878, at the start of the war, the British established three Field Forces – designated Peshawar Valley, Kurram Valley and Kandahar respectively – each of which invaded Afghanistan by a different route. At the end of the first phase of the war in May 1879, the Peshawar Force was withdrawn, while the Kandahar Force was reduced in size. In September 1879, at the beginning of the second phase, additional British and Indian Army units were dispatched to Afghanistan, while the Kurram Valley Force was reinforced, and re-designated the Kabul Field Force.Your shipment will arrive via USPS Priority Mail (1-4 business days) or USPS Ground Advantage (2-5 business days), after the 2-3 day processing time (upon paid purchase)Shipment(s) sent out of Lemon Grove, California, USAWE CAN COMBINE-SHIP - ASK US FIRST!Will be packed very well - READ OUR FEEDBACK!No Returns ***AN INVOICE WILL BE SENT AFTER PURCHASE, WHICH MAY REFLECT A MORE ACCURATE POSTAGE RATE FOR THIS ITEM - DON'T PASS THIS UP YET!
