Description: Patriotic 145+ year old figural social movement sign. Fun figural eagle design. Hand painted in the 1870s over an earlier gilt sign, traces of which peek through. Excellent untouched crackled surface patina. The back is covered with numerous pencil inscriptions, names and several dates between 1873 and 1879. Apparently from Pennsylvania. 3/4" thick pine. A rare an unusual folk art piece. SIZE: 40" x 11" CONDITION: Expected aging and wear with some typical paint flaking. Few old period repairs. Excellent untouched surface patina. As-is.
