Description: 1870 Liberty Seated dollar, authenticated / graded / encapsulated by NGC as Proof details (cleaned, as it likely was wiped a bit too hard a century or more ago). This is a rare coin as only 1,000 were minted for special presentations and collectors to purchase, and this is one of them which we are proud to offer after acquiring. The mirrored surfaces and features include gun metal blue toning and browns that fade to the reds and oranges one finds after 150 years of toning. But this coin has more: you can see a planchet/minting error at the top of the obverse, as there is extra metal that was not polished off or trimmed as it should have been. So this is a proof AND error, and is a premium coin as such. A bit of misguided cleaning is all that kept this from being a five digit-priced coin. But here, although it is a candidate for national auction, we offer it for your interest for the time being. This silver dollar is a truly beautiful example of American post-Civil War history. The rare 1870 Liberty Seated dollar in Proof details is offered for you here as the most accessible on eBay because of its flaw! We'll ship for free - registered mail, insured and signature required - for this one.
