Description: Original hand signed currency issued by the “State of North Carolina” in 1862. The “Ten Cents” note is also hand inscribed with the serial number “261”. The note was issued out of Raleigh, North Carolina and was printed by “J.T. Paterson & Co. Augusta, Ga.”. Fractional currency was issued because of the coin shortage during the Civil War. As with a lot of the notes of the period it has the plain back. The note measures 2 ¼” x 4 ½”. The note will be shipped in a protective sleeve with a dated, hand signed Letter of Authenticity with a photograph of the currency above. All of the artifacts on our site are guaranteed to be original Civil War issue or as stated. Please see our "About” on front page for more information on the framing and artifacts.
