This rare first edition of Paez's travelogue published in 1862, chronicles Paez’s expedition to the Los Llanos region of Venezuela with interesting accounts of animals, topography, flora, and the habits, social life, customs and traditions of the native people. The book is profusely illustrated by the author. Illustrations include the striking frontispiece of wild horses. Ramón Páez (1810 - 1894) was a Venezuelan writer, educated in England, son of Venezuelan general José Antonio Páez (leader of the movement that separated Venezuela from Greater Colombia).
