Description: An early pontiled flint glass Pittsburgh bar lip liquor decanter from the 1860s in the Honeycomb pattern. This nice decanter was probably made by Bakewell Pears & Co glasshouse of Pittsburgh,Pa in the Civil War era of the 1860s. Honeycomb pattern with panels around base and shoulder...long sloping shoulder and neck. This is a different style than ones I've seen before.....Hand blown in mold......ground pontil scar on bottom.......crude applied double ring bar lip.....11"tall...it has a couple sliver chips at base, along with some small chips on bottom; no other damage. A nice clean decanter that displays real nice. ......
