This is the memoir of an incredible story of Capt Bate in the Royal Navy who served in the Opium Wars in China 19th cent. The book has an inscription from a 6th Regiment Ohio Volunteers in 1906 to the wife of Captain Monfort (see pictures) dedicated to husband Elias Monfort who served in the 6th Regiment 1861 who was wounded at the battle of Gettysburg. Book measures 7.25in X 4.75i. 278 pages with 10 pages of adverts from the publisher. Book is in good condition; there is some staining , the cover spine has tears, but spine is tight.
