Description: need text pages Connecticut This is a small map from a volume published in New York in 1855, titled The World Geographical, Historical and Statistical, written by Charles C. Savage. The map is of the state of Connecticut, drawn to a scale of about 16 miles to the inch. It measures 5.5 x 9 inches in size. The page has a considerable amount of browning from age (see photos), but is otherwise in very good condition. The counties of the state are outlined and identified, and the map shows over 100 towns, and 5 rail lines. The book included three pages of text about the state of Connecticut, and photocopies of that material will be included. These pages described the numerous aspects of the state as it existed in the 1850s, in the pre-Civil War era, in these categories: "Physical Aspect"; "Mountains"; "Rivers, Bays, Harbors, etc."; "Climate"; "Cities and Chief Towns"; "Productive Resources"; "Manufactures"; "Railroads and Canals"; "Commerce"; "Education"; "Population"; "History"; and "Government." _gsrx_vers_1680 (GS 9.8.3 (1680))
