Description: A rare and possibly unique 1850s labeled pressed glass Inkwell. Joseph Nock’s patent inkwell was supposedly the first hinged lid inkwell in America. Patented in the early 1850s, it features a pressed glass paneled body with brass rim and hinged lid. The 3 inch diameter by 2 inch tall inkwell is fairly rare, especially with the original stamped hinged lid. What makes this example unique is it retains a 100% label to the base. Label even includes the original $1.50 price tag. Because the label was fixed to the base, it was almost always ruined by water, or where. This example does exhibit some damp stain, but the label remains perfectly legible. Excellent overall condition with some wear to the underside of the rims. Buyer to pay $14.95 insured priority shipping within the US or 2 pounds priority international.
