Description: This lovely condiment jar was made in Sheffield, England, by Martin, Hall & Co. The hallmark dates from 1854-1866. The jar is made of very heavy clear glass with a cut starburst pattern on the bottom. The silverplate accents include a slotted hinged lid with attached double sidemounts. Each sidemount has 2 small hooks for additional utensils, possibly spreaders. The piece is numbered 2819 with a registration number 535917. It measures 5.25"x3"x3" and weighs a hefty 1 lb 10.3 oz. This is a rare design with no others found for comparison purposes. There is one small chip on the bottom edge, as seen in the final photo. The lid is fully functional. There are a few small surface scratches and scuffs to the glass and silverplate. Zoom in on photos for better detail and measurements.
