C." and wrote "Forwarded from Vernon Hill" and "due 3¢" and sent the envelope on after writing "Yanceyville, N. C." as the new town and state. Whether the three cents was ultimately collected is unclear, as the letter should have been forwarded without additional charge. Wonderful item with two scarce Virginia manuscripts.
