Description: Neat stampless cover from Augusta Maine in the 1850s, with the imprint "official business" from the Adjutant General's Office, Aguusta. Black CDS with integral "paid" at bottom; no date. Backflap of the legal size envelope is unsealed and this presumably enclosed a flyer, circular or other such printed matter. Some soiling and a vertical crease. Your satisfaction is guaranteed.
