Description: For sale is a nice 1843 Braided Hair Large Cent. The Large Cent is what the original cents looked like all the way up to 1856 when they shrunk them down to what the penny is today. But back then the Large Cent was about the size of a half dollar and almost as heavy, being made of 100% copper. The Braided Hair Large Cent was minted from 1839 until the very last year of the Large Cent, which was 1857. There were a few different versions of the 1843 Cent. This is the "Petite Small Letters" version, which refers to the font size of the coin's letters. As you can see from the pics the coin is in really nice condition. The date, images, and lettering are present and bold and it has a nice chocolate brown patina to it. The coin would come in at a decent VG grade. Even every letter of LIBERTY on the bust is clear and present, which is one of the first things to wear off on Large Cents. The coin has typical surface scratches but has no damage and it has not been cleaned. Here is your chance to own a great vintage coin at a great price. Thanks!
