Joints are intact but for a half inch split near center front. Corners and edges are rubbed. Borads have spread a bit at fore edges due to expansion of the pages. Inner hinges are firm; binding ids tight. Pages are bright, with scattered foxing throughout. Belonged to a school library, with school name penned on ffep and a small sticker on rear pastedown ep. Illustrated with a steel etching as frontispiece that has a short tear at fore edge. The folding map in present and intact. Benjamin Wait was involved in the Upper Canada (Ontario area) Rebellion of 1837 and sentenced to execution. His wife Maria managed to obtain a stay and instead he was sentenced to transportation to the penal colony of Van Dieman's Land. This was actually the island of Tasmania, so renamed in 1856. He eventually escaped and made his way to the United States and his wife, in 1842. Overall Condition is Good+ Shipped boxed and insured All my books are as described.
