The date is very faint, but the shape of the 8 can be made out with a good eye, however the beaded cords and small letters on the reverse are the "head of 1838" variety only used between 1837-1839, allowing us to decipher the date a lot more easily. It has darker, heavily corroded/pitted surfaces on both sides, particularly on the front. Please use the pictures to determine the grade and feel free to ask any questions that you have.
