SIZE: The printed area including titles is approximately 10.5 x 8.5 cm (4 x 3.25 inches) plus margins with a blank back (v. small). ARTIST/CARTOGRAPHER/ENGRAVER: Engraved after a picture by F.W.L. Stockdale. Frederick Wilton Litchfield Stockdale (1780—1850) was primarily a topographer, working as assistant to the Military Secretary to the East India Company until, due to ill health, he was compelled to resign. However, despite this, he contributed prolifically to topographical works. Stockdale also exhibited in the Royal Academy. PROVENANCE: Produced for "The Cornish Tourist; Or, Excursions Through Cornwall.". Published by Simpkin & Marshall, London, 1824. TYPE: Antique steel plate engraving printed on paper. VERSO: There is nothing printed on the reverse side, which is blank. CONDITION: Good; suitable for framing. Please check the scan for any blemishes prior to making your purchase.
