Description: Presented is an antique, English sterling silver berry strainer or pierced ladle made by George Piercy of London in 1822. The handle is done in a classic Threaded Fiddle or Fiddle Thread pattern. The front of the handle has a finely engraved crest of a dove holding a branch in its beak. The back is hallmarked with the leopard’s head for London, the lion passant for sterling silver, a duty mark of the king’s head, a date letter g for the year 1822 and a maker’s mark for George Piercy. This piece is in good condition for its age, with only minimal surface wear. There is a dent to the bowl, but this is minor. Length: 6 1/2 inches. Weight: 48 grams or 1.7 ounces.
