Description: I have got to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of my collection. THIS IS MY LAST ONE! Back in the day, Revell and others would create models to fit into their standard boxes without regard to any standard scale. Sometimes this was referred to as Box Scale. This is one of those kits and it turns out to be the Martin B-57B Canberra bomber in 1/81 scale (even though the box says 1/80). I built this as a teenager in the 70s when it was released as Revell #H-132:130 and I remember the Strategic Air Power Series box with its dramatic artwork of a mission against a Vietnamese bridge. The molds were over 10 years old back then, so they are certainly not up to modern molding standards. However, I would still recommend this as a fun project for a beginning modeler. I found a handful of listings for this kit on eBay (almost all from Italy or Germany) but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this to you very quickly. Here is what I have found online about this nostalgic kit: The Revell website no longer shows this kit, so I assume it has been Discontinued or is Out of Production. From other sources, I have found the following blurb about the B-57 plus a few of the kit features: Based on the Canberra B2, the B-57 played a special role within the USAF. The first B-57 made its maiden flight on June 28th, 1954. It was suited for low flying missions by day and night in all weather conditions. Two B-57 wings were deployed to Vietnam in 1965, where they became an irreplaceable weapon during ground support and night missions. A single B-57 could carry a weapon load similar to four F-4 Phantoms. Features:• Cockpit simulation with 2 pilot figures• Choice of retarded or lowered undercarriage• Two wing tanks• Choice of missile load• Decal set for two USAF versions Scalemates.com shows this is a 2011 Revell Classics limited edition release based on the venerable 1956 tooling that has been the basis of 10 releases under the Revell, Advent, Revell/Marusan, Revell/Lodela and Revell/Kikoler brands. Since the original release was 1/81, I am going to assume that the box label of 1/80 is just meant to be a ballpark figure to look more rational. They provide a link to download the complete 8-page instruction set and painting / decal guide. There are also many links to reviews, references and galleries of Martin B-57 and English Electric Canberra bombers to help you get the details right. Paul A H published a short In-Box Review on the britmodeller.com forum site that shows the kit contents in a few high-resolution photos. He runs through the very simple construction steps and leaves us with the following Conclusion: “Obviously this isn’t the kit for the modeller that wishes to build the ultimate B-57, not least because of the old fashioned ‘box scale’. Nevertheless it is a simple little kit and a fun reminder of modelling as it used to be.” Volker Helms gives us a fine In-Box Review on the German-language ipmsdeutschland.de site that shows the sprues and gives close-ups of several parts. He points out that the plastic is from the original molds, but the decals are much newer (2011). His succinct conclusion was: “A historic simple kit that is also suitable for beginners.” This kit is in a small “throwback” box about 12” x 5” x 1.5”. As you can see from the pictures, the kit is in great shape and still sealed with large tape disks, so I consider it factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains 46 black plastic parts and a set of modern decals to make a nostalgic model of the Martin B-57B Canberra bomber. I use eBay Managed Payments, but I no longer ship internationally. Auction winner pays the winning bid and for a limited time I am offering this classic item with $6 Flat Rate Shipping in the US! No reserve and a low starting bid. Check out my other great auctions and listings for combined shipping. Good luck! Those familiar with my listings can tell that I really enjoy these products and the modeling hobby. I like to provide more than just the bare facts about the items, trying to lead you into discovering more about the subjects and optimizing your builds (if that is your goal). I started out picking up models that I was interested in, with the eye toward building them when I had time. Always a bargain-hunter, I accumulated many more than I can build, so I found myself in a Collector status (sounds nicer than a hoarder). As I am sure you have noticed, my items are almost always sealed and in mint condition (I call them Gift-Ready), since I only open them when I am ready to build them. Now I enjoy making these products available to my fellow modelers; both Builders and Collectors. For the Builders, there are probably better (at least cheaper) ways to add to your project lists than buying from me, but you know you are getting top quality. For Collectors, my goal is to save you a few bucks over the competition for the same item in factory sealed and collectible (or resellable) condition.
