Sir Walter Scott, 1st Baronet (1771 - 1832) was a Scottish historical novelist, playwright, and poet, popular throughout much of the world during his time. The Lay of the Last Minstrel (1805) is a long narrative poem by Scott. Marmion is an epic poem by Scott about the Battle of Flodden Field (1513). It was published in 1808. Previous owner's ink inscription to front blanks. CONDITION Uniformly bound in mottled calf. Externally, generally smart but with some wear to extremities. Joints to Marmion held by cords only and starting to The Lay of the Last Minstrel. Internally, firmly bound. Bright but with slight background foxing to one volume and the odd spot, mostly to endpapers to the other volume.
