Each volume is bound in a half calf binding, with marbled paper covered boards. Written by Hannah More. More was a writer and noteworthy poet and playwright of the 18th and 19th century. Her literary works had strong evangelical undertones, and were often concerned to politics and morality. Includes numerous poems, with several piece never before published. With the bookplate of Will. Marchant Ardagh to the front pastedown. Volume I, volume II is lacking the front and rear endpapers. A very scarce collection of poetical works by this noted female poet. CONDITION In a uniform half calf binding with marbled paper covered boards. Externally worn. Rubbing to the head and tail of the spine, and also to the extremities. Small amount of loss to the extremities of the front and rear boards. Patches of loss to each of the backstrips. Heavy rubbing also to the front and rear boards, with cracks to the front and rear joints of each volume. Volumes I and II are lacking both the front and rear endpapers. Previous owners bookplate to the front pastedown of each volume. The front and rear joints of each volume are strained, but firm. Internally firmly bound. Pages are lightly cockled, with the occasional mark.
