Description: WONDERFUL, VERY OLD American primitive 18th or 19th century HAND WROUGHT Cast Iron Waffle Maker Iron. THIS LOVELY EARLY FIREPLACE HEARTH UTENSIL has Wrought Iron strap Handles & a perfectly working latch - a very rare hand made piece. I love early American skillets, and when I saw this piece, I just had to have it, I was told it was originally displayed for many years as part of a log cabin museum. Fine overall condition--no cracks or chips--interior is in decent shape - could easily be used for making waffles again!--approximately 26.75" overall length--rectangular part of the waffle iron is approx. 7 1/2" X 5.1/4 --unmarked as far as I can tell--unknown maker--exact age unknown, but believed to be over 150 years old--nice oval ring latch--another unique feature is that the inside has 2 different designs. A very nice and very early American primitive handmade waffle iron that would make a welcomeaddition to any collection, looking great on a primitive hearth or fireplace, or to be used over a campfire!
