Description: Antique English brass metal wall sign. Embossed wall plaque made to advertise Robert Grays coaches which were employed by the Royal Mail in the 1780s. This plaque originally would have been placed on the side of a regular mail stop inn on the way to London identifying it as a respite stop for the Royal service. This original sign dates from between 1784 and 1823. Robert Gray and company were coach builders in Fleet Street during the Georgian period. This antique brass plaque sign is museum quality and would make a great addition for any Royal mail or "Old World" collector.
