Description: Measures 20½ inches by 11½ inches. Dated 1 July 1755. Wax seal with fish image, reflecting the trade of one of the people named in the document. People involved in the agreement are: John Kittermaster of the City of London, Fishmonger. Gilbert Selby of Holy Island in the County of Durham, Merchant. Relates to the Lease of a Messuage Burgage or Tenement and garden or yard in Holy Island on the south side of a street there called Finkle Street. Bounded by a Tenement and garden of the Earl of Tankerville. Includes a piece of land “lying unoccupied” extending eastwards to a place called the Mill House. CONDITION. Contents complete. No holes or tears. Darkening to vellum in places but ink clear and free of fading. Good condition overall for a document of this age. The wax seal has some cracking but the image s nice and clear.
