With historical and critical remarks by Mr. Dacier, a French classical scholar. Each volume contains essays on the lives of important and illustrious men from history with notes and annotations on the writings. With an additional catalogue of Plutarch's works, a biographical sketch of his life, and tables of contents. Volume one is illustrated with frontispiece and six plates. Volume two is illustrated with frontispiece and four plates. Volume three is illustrated with frontispiece and three plates. Volume four is illustrated with frontispiece and three plates. Volume five is illustrated with frontispiece and one plate. Volume six is illustrated with frontispiece and three plates. Volume seven is illustrated with frontispiece and four plates. Collated complete. CONDITION Bound in quarter calf with patterned paper covered boards. Externally, sound though with rubbing and chipping to the extremities. Loss of the spine label to volumes three and five. With minor loss to the spine labels of volumes one and six. Light loss to the head of the spines of volumes one, three, four, five, six, seven, nine, and ten. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot and light age toning to the endpapers.
