Description: The Battle of Algiers (Italian: La battaglia di Algeri; Arabic: معركة الجزائر, romanized: Maʿrakat al-Jazāʾir) is a 1966 Italian-Algerian war film co-written and directed by Gillo Pontecorvo. It is based on action undertaken by rebels during the Algerian War (1954–1962) against the French government in North Africa, the most prominent being the eponymous Battle of Algiers, the capital of Algeria. It was shot on location in a Roberto Rossellini-inspired newsreel style: in black and white with documentary-type editing to add to its sense of historical authenticity, with mostly non-professional actors who had lived through the real battle. The film's score was composed by Pontecorvo and Ennio Morricone. It is often associated with Italian neorealist cinema. This is a sound film with English subtitles. This is an original b/w print on 3M stock. The condition is like new. The film is mounted on an 800' reel and has the original can with the label. This print has a leader, lab-head and countdown. It also has the lab-tail and leader at the end. Condition is like new! This is an extract from the feature film, and as such is only one scene from the film. Please study the photos for an estimation of running time. An 800' reel when full contains around 20 minutes of footage. No vinegar syndrome issues, no warping and no odors. You will receive the film on on a reel and in a can when shown in the photos above. You will receive exactly what is shown in the photos above.
