Description: A great early Dutch dollar that once circulated in the US prior to the surrender of Stuyvesant, the last Dutch director-general of the colony of New Netherland (today’s New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Connecticut, etc.), in 1664. While the 1648 Utrecht issues typically come with better strike and planchet quality, this is still an above average example presenting impressive sharp details that are not usually seen on these popular Dutch dollars. A planchet flaw seen on the reverse probably prevented this coin from being graded higher, but the slightly reflective surfaces and fresh skins sure qualify for Premium Quality.
