Description: A great subject in this deguartype! A young woman holding her pet dog. This was photographed by Joseph Marstens of Baltimore. That information was stamped at the bottom of the brass mat that framed the photo. Joseph Marsters plied his trade at 147 Lexington St. in Baltimore. He was located there in 1851 until after 1860. He actually began making fine dags in 1848 according to one of his advertisements. This piece does have some scratches and the frame does have some issues. The two halves are detached. The frame holding the mat and photo is weak and some of it is not glued. Perhaps it could be put in a different frame and keep the mat. There is writing on the back of the photo. I could not determine a name. This measures 3 1/4” x 3 1/2”.
