Description: 15+ Fresh Seeds of Plinia cauliflora x Plinia aureana Variety "Red Hybrid" Red hybrid variety of jaboticaba is popular for its everbearing and fast to fruit qualities. Many jaboticaba varieties can take 10 or more years to fruit. So the Red Hybrid variety is a great choice since it often fruits in as little as 3-5 years depending on the climate and conditions the trees are growing in. The second reason the Red Hybrid is a great choice is for it tendency to flower and fruit non-stop. Most other varieties of jaboticaba have certain times they may fruit during the year with times of no flowers or fruits. The red hybrid can fruit every month and have new flowers and fruits in all development stages on the tree. So no matter the time of year you are only a little time away from enjoying some fresh fruits if they aren't already ripe and ready to enjoy now. Jaboticaba is a tropical fruit tree native to Brazil. It is also known by the name "Brazilian grape tree". The delicious, sweet grape-like fruits grow directly on the main trunk and branches of the tree. The fruits develop quickly and are ready for harvest about 1 month after flowering. Jaboticaba is a slow growing tree that can grow and fruit in containers/pots. Luckily the Red Hybrid variety grows faster than many other jaboticabas, so although it grows slow, it is going to be faster and fruit faster than most other varieties. Jaboticaba trees love plenty of rainwater and acidic soil. These trees do very well in partial shade in their early years and can handle full sun when they are more mature. If you live in an area that experiences freezes in the winter, it is highly suggested to protect these trees from the frost. The seeds are cleaned and packed in humid vermiculite to keep the seeds from drying out. Seeds will likely already be germinated by the time you get the package. Therefor it is ideal to plant the seeds in peat moss based potting soil immediately and to not let the seeds dry out. Seeds can take more than a month or 2 before they sprout above the soil. Don't plant the seed deep. It should be only 1 centimeter or 1/2 inch below the soil level. Plant the seeds in a peat moss and perlite soil mixture. Wait till the seedlings are at least a few inches tall before you feed them a slow release fertilizer. Holly-Tone from Espoma is often used. Message me if you have any questions or issues.
