Description: This is a 14K solid yellow gold Elgin pocket watch with a floral design, manufactured in approximately 1891. It has a mechanical movement with 7 jewels and a 12-hour analog display with Roman numerals. The watch is not water-resistant and has a white dial color with a seconds hand. It features a full hunter closure with a snap caseback and comes without papers or service records. The pocket watch has a case size of 6. It is sold for parts or repair and does not come with original box/packaging or manual/booklet. I have priced this pocket watch based on the total weight minus the weight of an identical movement. I have not taken it apart to weigh it as I am afraid of damaging it. The pocket watch weighs a total of 54.7 grams and the identical movement and non gold parts weigh approximately 31 grams which leaves an estimated gold weight of 23.7 grams. All information was pulled from the Pocket Watch Database and I have included many photos to show its condition. I can adjust the time on it but when you try to wind it up there is a lot of resistance (I did not force it). A few things to know about its condition: The case does snap shut but it doesn’t sit perfectly flush in some parts. I have tried to show this in the photos. There are shallow dents in the front and back of the case from normal use. The minute and secondhand have mostly darkened and you cannot see much of the cobalt blue anymore. Under the back case cover, the watch is engraved MEB. There is also some deeper scratches in this area. Will be shipped priority mail, fully insured, with signature required.
