As a fighter squadron equipped with Heinkel He 111 bombers , it carried out air raids with bombs on assigned targets. The squadron took part in the raid on Poland , the Western Campaign , the Battle of Britain and the German-Soviet War . From 1945 it was used in the defense of the Reich against the Western Allies. With the conversion from November 1944 to the Messerschmitt Bf 109K and the Focke-Wulf Fw 190A, the squadron's range of operations changed to that of a fighter squadron.
