1020s Vintage RUSSIAN ICON in Gold Frame with Inlaid Wood Case and Glass Door

Description: This icon was found in the long-time home of a Russian family in San Francisco. It consists of a picture of ... someone; perhaps a Saint or a Biblical personage -- on a wood board that has been set in a simple gold wood frame. The picture likely was printed on paper that was then attached to a wood board that is about a half inch thick. The framed picture is fitted into a wood box with a clear glass panel in the door. The wood door has an inlaid design. The framed icon measures approximately 6 7/8 x 5 7/8 inches. The image inside the frame is approximately 4 3/4 x 3 3/4 inches. The wood box is about 8 x 7 x 2 3/8 inches. The glass in the door measures approximately 6 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches. Any spots in the photos are just camera flash glare. The back of the wood board to which the picture is attached is marked as shown in the photos and includes many handwritten notations. These markings appear to be in Russian and include what seems to be a date with the year 1927. Overall, this icon is in excellent condition with no significant damage or problems.
