There is NOTHING like the clear, azure blue of Virginia Bluebells in early spring! Almost as soon as the snow melts, Virginia Bluebell plants are ready to burst forward with their magenta and pink flower buds which become a beautiful sky blue as the flowers open. Virginia Bluebells are native Eastern North American spring ephemeral wildflowers. "Ephemeral" means they appear in spring and they flower for a few weeks, set seed, and then the foliage dies back as they "disappear" until next spring (the root remains alive, as these are perennials.) The flowers are an important early spring nectar source for hummingbirds, bees, and other pollinators. Virginia Bluebells generally prefer sun in early spring and then shade or part shade going into summer. The sunnier the area, the more soil moisture they will need. They do well growing in a lightly wooded area or along the edges of trees and streams. Bluebells bloom at the same time as late daffodil varieties, bleeding hearts, and redbud trees, and they stay in bloom for about two to three weeks. Since they are shade and part-shade loving perennials, they are perfect for growing in a hosta garden. The tops of Virginia Bluebells die back in late spring, just about the time hostas are fully leafed out. They are native to North America and are deer-resistant.GROWING FROM SEED ~ These are fresh 2024 seeds. I've been growing these for many years & they are not very difficult, but you will need patience & several years to get a lot of mature plants established in your garden. If you are starting with seeds, the more seeds you start with, the faster this process will go (from seed it normally takes 3 to 4 years to reach bloom size). They are perennials & will get larger with more flowering stems as they get older. I'll include detailed seed instructions. ~ Sorry, no shipping outside the USA. No shipping to AK, HINOTE: I raise VaBB plant roots too & I do sell them on ebay for certain months of the year; if you want VaBB bulbs/roots now but can't find my root listings then please do feel free to message me, because I may have temporarily removed them from my ebay listings during their leafy spring growing season when they can't be shipped. Roots will be available again after they have gone dormant usually in July and thereafter. Or you can also just save my seller name and check my new listings weekly. --- NOTE #2: I will be offering some daffodils from my garden again this year starting in late June or July so save my seller name and check back often to look at my listings. >> click here to see more Va.Bluebell options including roots/plants and daffodils >> >> >>
