Description: On offer, we have 10 French satire illustrations by J.J. Grandville. These date to the early 1800's and are, I believe, hand colored illustrations. These all are titled in French and are signed J.J. Grandville or mostly "J.J.Grand". Some have second names that I assume are the lithographers. Each page measures approximately 10 1/4" X 6 5/8". The backs are plain. About the artist: Jean Ignance Isidore Gerard (1803-1874) published under the pseudonym "Grandville". He was the premier French illustrator of his time and is works have influenced generations of cartoonists and illustrators including Walt Disney. These prints are in excellent condition for their age. They are bold, clear and clean. These were cut from a book (or books), not always evenly. There is some toning, a few fingerprints and wear on the edges. Some corners are chipped. As I am not an expert, on art please view my photographs for more description. These are from my friend who is moving to a much smaller home and parting with many of his treasures. I will be happy to answer any questions and, of course, combine your shipping when possible.
