Daturas are desert plants with deep purple stems and ruffled white and lilac blooms. Datura grows quickly from seed and thrive in any soil with little water. They're annuals and will virtually grow anywhere. These plants are tough enough to grow in a container and tough enough to grow in a vacant lot. Soak the seeds, then plant them, lightly cover with soil and keep moist but not drenched. They can be slow to germinate, but all should come up. They prefer summer heat. Note: All parts of Datura are toxic. Do not eat.
