Description: SWITCH GRASS. Original member of the native tallgrass prairie. Impervious to floods, fire and drought. Easy to grow from seed. Very hardy, down to -50F. Perennial with a long life span(10+yrs) Likes to form clumps about 1-2' around and will get 5+ feet tall. Not picky about soil, will grow just about anywhere with 6 hrs of sun. Has a grey/blueish hue in the summer and turns copper color in fall, giving some color to the winter landscape. Wildlife is attracted to switch grass. Deer and others hang out around stands of switch grass, it provides hiding spots and a safe place to bed down.
