Description: From the Last page of catalog dated 2016. Specialty knives from 1802 ( first made). Catalog number 4259-15,50. This style of Chef knives were 1st made in 1802 and still made today. The spade they call a (Pikas) was brought out in 1727. They started out in 1623 making swords for the war that started in 1618-1648. After the war, I believe in 1650 they started making knives. Over the years they made knives for many companies at their required specs. Some of those companies are still in business today. I give credit to Friedr Herder for their success. This one and some others are not 2nd choice which has flaws. That's why they are second choice. Only scratches, knot holes, chips, all in the handles, nothing hurting the blades. Except no logo's or partial logos or put on crooked or sometimes the wrong logo. Performance in the knife is as good as New-New as this one is. Retail is $85.99. Selling for $85.99 less15%.
