Garnet is not really a kind of gemstone, but rather a family of related gemstone species. Rhodolite is a lovely purplish variety of garnet, and this one is a deep, rich lilac color. The gemstone measures 7.0 x 5.0 mm, has good, eye-clean clarity and is of very good overall cut. Garnet is the birthstone for January and rhodolite has also occasionally been suggested as a genuine gem alternative birthstone for June. The diamonds average 1.7 mm in diameter and have a combined weight of 0.05 carat. These diamonds have an average color graded at H/I with average clarity of I-2, and are of good overall cut. They add a nice little sparkle next to the major center stone without distracting from it, and definitely face up better than their technical grades. The diamonds and the rhodolite garnet are all 100% natural, genuine, untreated, and unenhanced. This ring is solid gold and unworn; don't be duped into buying a cheap gold-plated ring or someone else's worn-out castoff!
